GrinderCrusherScreen since 1973 / FYREBX SD5
You have hundreds of thousands of dollars of iron sitting next to a pile that makes its own heat. The SD5 puts 500 gallons of water and foam on the loader you already own, so the fire gets handled by your crew in the first ten minutes instead of by the fire department in the second hour.
Patented, double powder coated
Procured by the U.S. Army
Real terms back the same day
Freight, setup, delivery
The unit in operation. Fill, mount, drive to the fire, spray from the cab.
A walkthrough of how agencies including CAL FIRE are running these in the field.
Walkaround of the tank, pump, plumbing, and quick attach mount.
A piece of tramp metal goes through the mill. A bearing runs hot. A load comes off the belt with an ember buried in it and lands on a pile that has been cooking since June. By the time anyone sees smoke, the fire is inside the machine or inside the stockpile, which is the one place a garden hose and a fire extinguisher cannot reach.
The fire department shows up and does what the fire department does, which is protect the property line and soak the pile from the outside. Nobody is driving a pumper into a windrow.
Hydraulic hoses, wiring harness, and belts go first. A fire that gets ten minutes of runtime usually means a rebuild, not a repair.
Insurance may cover the iron. It does not cover the contracts you miss while you wait on parts and an adjuster.
Stockpiles self heat. The fire that shuts you down often did not start in the grinder at all.
We keep a running file on this. Not to scare anybody, but because every operator we talk to thinks it is a thing that happens to somebody else.
Industry tracking data shows fires at recycling plants and scrap yards climbing sharply since 2020, with dozens publicly reported every month and operators treating it as the new normal.
Eastside Fire & Rescue, WA · Jul 2026
A fire at a Woodinville recycling facility started in the processing equipment itself. Firefighters were still working it 90 minutes in because they could not get at the seat of it.
KING 5, Washington · Jun 2026
A debris pile fire spread into a nearby structure. Firefighters stayed defensive and relied on equipment operators to pull the pile apart so they could reach the hot spots.
Crews arrived to heavy flames at a Philadelphia processing and recycling yard. Under control in about 45 minutes, cause undetermined, and that is a good outcome.
During a drought, piles left unwatered self heated to auto ignition overnight. Investigators watched residual mulch ignite again during the inspection and had to spray it down.
Rotochopper · Prevention guidance
Overheated bearings and belts, exhaust components, clutches, leaking hydraulics, and tramp metal coming through hot enough to ignite the end product it lands in.
We sell grinders. GrinderCrusherScreen has been putting horizontal grinders, tub grinders, screens, and wear parts into yards like yours since 1973, and we are on the phone with those yards every week. So we hear about it when one burns.
The tank is new to us. The problem is not. We picked up this line because the same conversation kept happening and there was never a good answer to it, and because the answer that finally showed up hangs off equipment our customers already own.
If your loader will not carry it, we will tell you. If you are better off spending the money on pile management and a water truck, we will tell you that too. Fifty odd years in, we would rather sell you a screen next year than sell you the wrong thing today.
FYREBX is designed and manufactured domestically. Patented, double powder coated, and built to be serviced in the field instead of shipped somewhere.
Adopted by CAL FIRE, procured by the U.S. Army, and running with wildland contractors and fire agencies on four continents. This is not a prototype somebody is testing on you.
Tell us the grinder and the loader and we will speak in specifics, not brochures.
Freight, setup, and delivery to your yard are things we do every week, not things we are figuring out.
One application through our partners, real terms back the same day.
Send us the make and model of your compact track loader. Two minutes on the form or one phone call. We confirm the fit before you spend a dollar.
Delivered price, freight, setup, and financing terms if you want them. Same day, from a person, with no follow up sequence.
It shows up ready to hang on the quick attach. Fill it, run it on dust control Monday, and know it is there the day you need it.
FYREBX SD5, 500 gallons, dozer blade built in. Financing available. Freight and setup quoted to your yard.
Look at what is parked in your yard right now. A grinder, a loader, a screen plant, a couple of trucks. That is somewhere north of half a million dollars of iron sitting on dirt, next to a pile that generates its own heat, in a business where a single piece of tramp metal can end your quarter.
Now look at the payment below. That is what it costs to have something on site that can actually get to a fire before the fire department finishes staging.
If your revenue is lumpy, say so. Skip payment and deferred first payment structures exist and we use them.
We run it through our financing partners and come back with terms. You are not chasing a bank.
Estimates on $33,500 financed, illustrated at the rate and term you set above. Your actual rate and term depend on credit, time in business, and structure. We will get you a real number the same day.
Get real numbersNobody wants to spend money on a machine that sits. This one does not sit. It is a water tank on a quick attach, so it does the jobs you are currently renting a truck or a trailer to do.
The dozer blade is the piece most yards end up using first. It cuts fire line if you need it and moves dirt, grades the yard, and patches haul road the rest of the time.
Knock down the yard and the haul road without calling a water truck. Keeps you right with the county and with OSHA.
Mix seed, mulch, and fertilizer in the tank and shoot slopes you cannot get a truck onto.
Tank empty, blade down, and it is a loader again.
Anyone who has renewed a policy on a grinding or mulch operation lately knows the questions have gotten harder. Carriers want to see a written fire plan, water on site, hot load procedures, and pile management before they will quote you at a number you like.
On site suppression is a concrete answer to a question most yards answer with a shrug. It does not guarantee you anything, and we are not going to tell you it will drop your premium. It does put a real piece of equipment in the column where your competitors have nothing.
Take the spec sheet to your agent before your next renewal conversation, not after a claim.
A written procedure plus a dedicated unit reads very differently than “we call 911.”
Some carriers and some brokers will look at it. Ask yours. We will send whatever documentation they want.
Hose and reel kit with 100 foot forestry hose, monitor gun, auxiliary 7 HP pump for running the unit off the machine, and a winch.
The 500 gallon unit needs a heavier compact track loader. Send us your make and model and we will confirm the fit before you spend a dollar.
We move machines for a living. If you need the loader too, we will quote the package.
Specifications subject to change without notice.
Give us the loader you already own and the size of your yard. We come back the same day with the right configuration, a delivered price, and financing terms if you want them. No call center, no drip sequence.
